ARTIST STATEMENT: I see everything in layers and often say, “everything reminds me of something else”. Anything that brings me up short, makes an impression, or promises to breathe understanding into the relationship between past and present may find its way into my work. My art practice is self-taught. Everything I’ve learned I have learned through looking, reading, talking with other artists, never abandoning a passionate curiosity about what it means to think, and create, to travel along a path stopping when something feels finished and continuing forward at that point. To quote Paul Bowles; “I only know what I intended to do once it’s finished”
