Brancusi, the Romanian genius, projected a unique version of erosion in nature. I remember the first moment I saw a Brancusi live, in my early 20’s at MOMA, his "Maiastra The Magic Bird". I was dumbstruck with awe, brought up short by the essence of “bird” captured in that form, which appears as if from a vacuum chamber, a perfection of vision materialized on a pedestal.
The "Brancusi Stone" of this painting was beach combed years ago, and remains on my desk to this day.
